I have seen one or two things in my life but never, never anything like this.

Bacchus, the latest POAN film in our Love Series, is inspired by Austrian writer Arthur Schnitzler’s 1926 novella Dream Story. The book centres on Doctor Fridolin, a successful doctor, and his thoughts and considerations over a two day period following his wife’s revelation that she had sexual fantasies about another man. A confession that rocks him and leads him to wander. A journey into the dark and erotic subconscious, of Freudian fantasies. The book would later become the adaptation for Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut.

Love can be complicated.

As subdued desires come to the fore, reality and the dream world edge closer as our protagonist is led toward temptation, to a masquerade party. A masked woman – a femme fatale - then takes him, dressed in all white eveningwear, through a house of pleasure, sex and elegant decor. His calm exterior hiding something more primal.

Atmosphere, beauty and tension.

This is a story of fantasy and lust, yes – but also of love. Maybe things have changed, but they find their way back to each other in in the end.

The film stars Leebo Freeman, Alice Rausch and Paulina de Lanes. Directed by Barnabus Wilhelm.

Pieces from the Bacchus collection reflect the elegance and eroticism of the film and its inspirations. Luxurious eveningwear, as worn by our protagonist, have a sophisticated after-dark feel. Crafted in beautiful, sustainable constructions with signature POAN details.

Mirror prints, lipstick and subtle references to fetishism create, like the film, an aura of something a little more enigmatic.

Featured throughout the film, the new German shepherd print comes in soft cotton-velvet on signature omnisex POAN shapes – including the Victor coat and Maude pant.
