THE ITALIAN JOB
My name is Georg and in Italy they call me Giorgio... Through my 9 years with Vivienne Westwood I learned about my passion to work "especially" with Italians to make clothes, as I found a passion and an embraceing of beauty combined with a positive attitude and enjoyment in this artisanal craftsmanship, that I found to be an imminent match to my work ethic.
I LOVE MY TEAM
When I embarked on my mission to found POAN - PEOPLES OF ALL NATIONS it was clear for me that the centre of my production would be in Florence and soon found my team Laura & Paola who would help me to work with my favourite artisanal workshops and factories to make our clothes.
We make Limited Edition runs of our pieces, especially for our LOVE STORY collections who are "semi couture" as we make 3-7 repetitions for each design. So if the fashion industry are the Goliath we are the David of high fashion.
Now it is my pleasure to introduce some of our friends in italy who we make our beautiful clothes with. ENJOY
MAKING DENIMS THAT LAST WITH NICOLETTA, FRANCESCO & MAURO
SIMPLY JEANS, we eat zuppa and listen to the italian 80s radio station, I cant wait to try the new prototypes on in the bathroom... Facciamo cosi, ma che bello are probably the most used words.
MAKING THE MOST BEAUTIFUL KNITWEAR WITH GIOVANNA, LARZIA & DANIELE
IL SOFFIO, we eat pasta and talk about the world.... when Giovanna handknits one of our iconic Biker Jackets and her daughter Larzia who has studied fine art in Florence hand paints them I feel like we are doing something truly unique.
MAKING SURE IT FITS & MOVES... THE ART OF PATTERN CUTTING WITH ALESSIA
ARTI 21, we have an espresso ristretto... no time to loose as we make the final adjustments to the patterns for the new couture dresses with Alessia. Paola has no time to waste and is always on the run...
MAKING THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE WITH MARIA-ROSA & STEFANO
MEHARI, non e possibile doesnt exist in the vocabulary of Stefano... we make the most beautiful womenswear with the best of italian knowledge of tailoring.
We focus on working with small, often family run artisan factories in Italy, with whom we have strong and personal relationships.
This helps us to not only guarantee the superior quality of our luxury products, but also to know that good work environments
are in place.
POAN never uses fur, leather or feathers.
Most of our high-end packaging is recyclable, reused in-house and offers a multi-purpose reuse for our clients.
We prevent waste through our ”handmade” approach in cutting and pattern cutting and also creatively rework leftover stockfabrics from the industry and reinterpret stock.
The Butterfly Mark is a third-party accreditation mark that identifies the luxury brands that meet the highest standards of verified innovation and environmental performance, offering transparency at points of sale and equipping consumers to make more informed purchasing decisions.
Companies contribute to their own sustainability in different forms, so each brand is assigned a bespoke collection of Positive Actions that signifies their unique efforts, illustrating their sustainable and ethical business practices in a simple and consumer-friendly way.
