ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

THE GREAT BEAUTY

CHAPTER I

The majority of our high-end packaging, which we reuse in house, is sourced sustainably and is recyclable. We reduce waste in a number of ways ranging from taking a ”handmade” approach in cutting and pattern cutting to reworking leftover stock fabrics from the industry and reinterpreting our own stock.

We make Limited Edition runs of our pieces, especially for our LOVE STORY collections which are "semi-couture" as we make 3-7 repetitions for each design. So if the fashion industry are the Goliath, we are the David of high fashion.

SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

THE ITALIAN JOB

CHAPTER II

When I embarked on my mission to build POAN - PEOPLES OF ALL NATIONS - it was clear to me that the epicentre of the production would be in Florence.

We focus on working with small, often family run artisan factories in Italy, with whom we have strong and personal relationships. This helps us to not only guarantee the superior quality of our luxury products, but also to know that good work environments are in place.

ETHICAL SUSTAINABILITY

THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS

CHAPTER III

POAN loves animals (our founder Georg is a vegetarian himself). As such, we never use fur, leather or feathers in any of our products.

THE POAN FAMILY

When I embarked on my mission to build POAN - PEOPLES OF ALL NATIONS - it was clear to me that the epicentre of the production would be in Florence.

I quickly formed the Italian team - Laura & Paola - who would help me to discover family-run, artisanal factories with whom we work to produce our collections.

IL SOFFIO

With IL SOFFIO, we eat pasta and talk about the world. When Giovanna hand-knits one of our iconic 'Biker Jackets' and her daughter Larzia, who has studied fine art in Florence, hand paints them I feel like together, we are doing something truly unique.

MEHARI

At MEHARI's, the phrase 'non e possibile' does not appear in the vocabulary of Stefano. We make the most beautiful womenswear with the best Italian tailoring knowledge.

ARTI 21

With ARTI 21, we have an espresso ristretto. No time to loose as we make the final adjustments to the patterns for the new couture dresses with Alessia. Paola has no time to waste and is always on the run.

SIMPLY JEANS

With SIMPLY JEANS, we eat zuppa and listen to Italian 80s radio. I cannot wait to try the new prototypes on in the bathroom. "Facciamo cosi", "ma che bello' are the most common phrases ringing out in the family workshop.
