Cardinal Tank Top Women Yellow
ETYMOLOGY
HOW TO WEAR IT/ FIT & SIZE
The tank top was born in 1912 with the introduction of women's swimming in the Olympic games which were held in Stockholm at the time. Nowadays this activity takes place in a “swimming pool” however back then, it was known as a "swimming tank.” Female swimmers wore outfits then referred to as “tank suits,” in other words, a suit which was worn in the tank! The straps kept the suit up whilst giving female swimmers the freedom and ease of movement needed in order to compete. The tank top made the jump from intimate to desirable apparel when it found itself on the silver screen, first worn by Marlon Brando, who embodied the epitome of male virility, as Stanley Kowalski in “A Streetcar Named Desire” in 1951. It has since transitioned across too many subcultures and garnered much popularity.
