100%REAL
What if it is not real?
What do you mean – ‘not real’?
Our emotions, I mean, or our perceptions on a more general note. Is there a way to tell what is for real?
The notion of reality has been repeatedly challenged lately. In political terms, some selected heads of state have gone to great lengths decrying facts as ‘fake news’, obscuring solid journalistic research (a valid method to establish ‘reality) with their own version of the truth, largely as a means of calculated disinformation, one would assume. Or possibly from sincere delusion? Hard to tell.
SAFARI
POAN takes you to the SAFARI, where the silhouettes express studies of animalistic rites and species interacting in a purer form. It invites human spectators into an expedition – with different actors having roles to play in an exotic environment, the observed might become the observer, and the animal/human separation loses its existential meaning in a wild habit where you adapt to survive. The primal energy of the wild is a stylistic statement you wear in the world’s jungle.
VICE
Our VICE collection inspired by the
iconic Miami Vice, pays homage to
1980’s Miami Beach. Visible within
its palette - Sunset hues of pinks,
yellows and oranges, play alongside Aqua blues and the shimmering black & gold of art deco nights.
COMING
What is a dark room, Poan is exploring the Berlin underground for this collection. Party on.
SINAI
The notion of bridging the style gap, from Egypt’s biblical history to modern-day aesthetics, form the base of inspiration for our collection, “SINAI
POLIZEI
The collection is an explicit reference to James Bond in “The Spy Who Loved Me”. But it is also about skiing culture, structured around woolly key pieces, felted bomber jackets and wide-legged trousers that introduce an Alpine aesthetic. Traditional techniques and fabrics are spiced with a modern, neon – coloured twist.
SAILOR
POAN revisits some classics of the late 1980s / early 1990s. Bleached denim makes a comeback, heavily washed, fringed, it goes with almost anything to pair with – all over Schiele prints, leopard patterns, or a classic grey jacket. Love is in the air with this collection.
BACCHUS
The background to the collection is Arthur Schnitzler’s “Dream Story” which revolves around a couple’s relationship,
and their secret desires. The looks are characterized by elegant evening-wear. Under the surface, however, erotic motives appear, at places with a fetishistic touch, referencing bondage practices, or all-over German shepherd prints.
THE END
The Wild West sets the tone.
POAN goes west, in a spiritual more than a geographic sense and explores its free state of mind in a film project. The collection is unisex, breaking down stereotypical gender roles, and offers Wild West inspired looks for men and women
MOZART
POAN references the Sound of Music story and wields it into a modern romance.
The collection features all-over prints from porcelain objets trouvés, dipping the family in a fest of décor and colour. They invite to dream, and to contemplate the complex
relationship of friends, foes, and loved ones.
