ETYMOLOGY

The word hood derives from the Anglo-Saxon word hōd, ultimately of the same root as an English hat. The garment's style and form can be traced back to Medieval Europe when the preferred clothing for monks included a hood called a cowl attached to a tunic or robes. It became popular in the 1970s as hip hop culture developed in New York City around this time and high fashion also took off during this era. People embraced and glamorized the new relaxed style of clothing. In terms of crop tops, this trend came in with the 80s. Cut-off crop tops became more common as part of the aerobics craze and as a result of the popularity of the movie Flashdance. In the 2010s, the crop top experienced a revival due to the popularity of 1990s fashion and they still remain popular today.

Featuring a tone on tone PEOPLES OF ALL NATIONS embroidery, on the chest. The patches on the left sleeve head are held in place by velcro and can be exchanged. Explore our offering of patches and the ability to customize them.
