LISMORE× POAN

Daniel Lismore lives his life as art: couture, vintage cloth, chainmail and found objects, worn as sculpture. For Exercise I he painted garments live in the boutique, and drew the faces of the people who stare at him.

They stare back

Surrounded by a multitude of staring eyes, the visitor becomes the centre of attention. Everyone stares: people of all ages, genders, backgrounds and sexualities. And so do Peoples of All Nations.

It was live

Exercise I

Exercise I let visitors watch an artwork being born: the artist painting garments live, between boutique and gallery. Vogue called him England's most eccentric dresser; the drawings are his way of staring back at the crowd.

Artist and dresser, compared with Leigh Bowery and Gilbert & George. He draws on art in all its forms, on history and on his travels, and turns clothing into sculpture and back.
