ETYMOLOGY

The tank top was born in 1912 with the introduction of women's swimming in the Olympic games which were held in Stockholm at the time. Nowadays this activity takes place in a “swimming pool” however back then, it was known as a "swimming tank.” Female swimmers wore outfits then referred to as “tank suits,” in other words, a suit which was worn in the tank! The straps kept the suit up whilst giving female swimmers the freedom and ease of movement needed in order to compete. The tank top made the jump from intimate to desirable apparel when it found itself on the silver screen, first worn by Marlon Brando, who embodied the epitome of male virility, as Stanley Kowalski in “A Streetcar Named Desire” in 1951. It has since transitioned across too many subcultures and garnered much popularity.

HOW TO WEAR IT/ FIT & SIZE

Brea is 176 cm and wears a size II/III. Paired with our Queen Trousers in black.

Formal

The lurex detail suggesting shades of shine makes the Cardinal Tank the ideal top to wear if you want to add an edgy twist to a formal outfit. When paired with the Viktor twill wool overcoat and tucked into the Queen trousers, jewelry becomes unnecessary

Fashion

Lurex on lurex takes on at Poan runway: the cardinal top and Galadriel palazzo trouser, and the Fashion scene is yours.

Casual

Wear it oversized as a tunic, and throw the animal print Ikarus shirt over it, tied at the waist with a tubular black silk scarf: for an unforgettable 'Eyes on Me' night at your favorite nightclub.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Our knitwear makers reassure the creation of the Cardinal Tank Top by maintaining a balanced relationship between the quality of the Made in Italy, environmental sustainability and the creation of details such as the refined hand finished neckline and sleeve.

ASSEMBLY

the development of this style begins with the construction of the parts ergonomically shaped to the body, and then assembled during a meticulous hand finishing process.

WHATS SPECIAL/FINISHING

the knit stitch used to make the Tank Top is called rib stitch, a detail that enriches the knit making it soft and stretchy at the same time

FINISHING

Our label is stitched in by hand in a japanese quilting technique to ensure its authenticity.

FABRIC COMPOSITION
